Full-Size Chuwic'inpa (Cradleboard) Workshop

10 max participants

will create a full-size cradleboard to honor and carry tradition forward.

We offer this workshop to organizations, communities, and programs by coming to your community and teaching this immersive, two-day hands on learning experience. This workshop provides an in-depth learning experience where participants will craft a full-size cradleboard. In addition to learning about the cultural significance and history of cradleboards, participants will receive live baby demonstrations to understand safe sleep techniques and how to properly use a cradleboard.

They will sew, assemble the wooden frame with rawhide, and gain hands-on experience in traditional techniques. Valuable tips and culturally significant practices will be shared to ensure each participant gains the knowledge and confidence to use or gift their cradleboard with cultural integrity.
We strongly encourage participants to bring a supportive relative to assist in assembling the cradleboard and to learn together. Cradleboard making is a communal practice, and having a relative present ensures that the knowledge and skills gained are shared within families.
